VENOMOUS

on 22/01/2012

What the?!

GOOP queen, Gwyneth Paltrow's latest anti-aging treatment recommendation is the snake venom facial. And it closely follows the breaking news in December that - wait for it - Catherine, Duchess of Cambridge is partial to products containing the venom of bumble bees, too.

Purified venom has proved a popular anti-ageing treatment in Korea for a while but - after 12 years of research - Korean Doctors have now released the ingredient to skin care lines, creating quite an, ahem, buzz.

The ones you need to know about are:

Real snake. The original Glamtoxy by Rodial.

Beauty from the bees. Kate uses this.

Or fake it (pictured). Sonya Dakar's brilliant Skincare Ultraluxe-9 Age Control Complex uses a synthetic agent called "synake," which replicates the effects of actual snake venom by temporarily inhibiting muscle activity.

Could this be bye-bye botox?
